As of 2022, 48.89 percent of the world’s live mobile money services operated in Sub-Saharan Africa. Moreover, registered and active mobile money accounts followed the same trend, with 47.69 percent and 54.36 percent of the world’s share, respectively. This can also be seen regarding both transaction value and transaction volume, each with a share of 66.03 percent and 69.23 percent. Compared to 2021, transaction value and live services dropped, with a decrease of 3.74 percentage points and.2.06 percentage points, respectively.
