As of 2022, there were approximately 7.6 thousand sites used for shipbuilding activities in South Korea. This was an increase from the previous year and the third-highest figure recorded during the surveyed period. The shipbuilding industry is one of South Korea's major economic sectors, with the country competing with China to become the global leader in ship manufacturing.
