Import and export value of food and beverages in Algeria 2014-2019
In 2019, the total import and export value of food and beverages in Algeria corresponded to approximately 825 and 49 billion Algerian dinars (roughly six billion and 360 million U.S. dollars), respectively. Since 2014, the considerable gap in value between imports and exports in the country resulted in a significant trade deficit within the food and beverage sector. Food production in Algeria is not sufficient to satisfy the internal demand for food. By importing the majority of food products, the country faces high levels of food insecurity.
