Most enterprises are currently using edge computing for monitoring and automating responses of industrial equipment: 34 percent of respondents reported so in a 2019 survey on edge computing. Another 54 percent of respondents reported to be planning to do so. Adaptive networking and distributed machine learning, among others, are also popular use cases of edge computing.
