
Latin America: average penalty cards per football match 2015-2020, by country
Referees in Bolivia handed out the largest number of penalty cards during soccer matches taking place between the 2015 and 2020 seasons. On average, professional soccer players in the South American country saw 6.8 penalty cards being waved per game in those years. Among the 17 countries listed in the graph, five of them registered an average number of penalty cards per match above six. On the contrary, penalties during professional soccer games in Honduras only translated to an average of 3.87 yellow or red cards per match.
