In 2019, the inventory of supermarkets in Colombia shrank by 248 million Colombian pesos as a result of theft. Compared to a year earlier, grocery stores lost four percent more due to shoplifters and dishonest employees. In that same year, the central region registered the highest share of shoplifting cases, followed by the Pacific coast.
