Egypt: monthly import value from Alexandria port 2019-2020

As of July 2020, the monthly import value from Alexandria's port in Egypt amounted to approximately 2.03 billion U.S. dollars, 4.5 percent lower than the prior month. During the timespan, the import value through the port of Alexandria ranged between roughly 1.54 billion U.S. dollars in April 2020 and close to 2.54 billion U.S. dollars in May 2019. Furthermore, majority of the imports are received through the port in Alexandria. Between January 2019 and July 2020, from the total imports, between 33.5 and 48.5 percent came through the port of Alexandria.

Total imports is concerning all Egyptian ports.

The data constitutes of all clearance systems for customs, including foreign trade free zones, the stored products in customs warehouses, as well as imports and exports with respect to temporary admission systems or general trade system.

"Temporary admission system" reflects the Customs operations through which some goods, that are within the Customs territory, can with limitation be partially or totally relieved from import taxes and duties payments.

"General trade system" is in place when the economic territory along with its statistical territory coincide. This reflects that imports are all goods going into an economic territory, while exports are all goods going out of an economic territory of a compiling country.
