Sweet Menthol and Portsman were the most frequently purchased cigarette brands in Tanzania as of 2018. Each of the brands was the last bought by roughly 21 percent of the smokers. Club Menthol followed with a share of 19.3 percent. As reported by the survey, there were more than two million smokers in Tanzania.

According to the source, "the data was weighted to conform to the latest available population figures from the 2012 Population and Housing census projected for 2017. The 4,797 unweighted cases corresponded to approximately 29.6 million adults aged at least 15 years in the country".
