Analyzing the Instagram (IG) and Facebook (FB) advertising by the 2020 presidential election campaigns in the United States, a study found that the Republican presidential candidate Trump spent 49.86 million U.S. dollars on ads in a civil tone, compared to 24.63 million dollars spent on ads in an uncivil tone. In the same period, between June and November 2020, The Democratic candidate Biden, spent 78.57 million U.S. dollars on IG and FB ads in a civil tone, compared to 3.9 million U.S. dollars on social media ads in an uncivil tone.
