In December 2020, Facebook was the leading GAFAM with the most backlinks amounting to 55.6 billion on their website in France. A strategy of acquiring backlinks which therefore seems to be paying off for the social network even though it has recently been the subject of numerous controversies, often involving user privacy, political manipulation, mass surveillance, psychological effects such as addiction and low self-esteem, and content such as fake news, conspiracy theories, copyright infringement, and hate speech.
