In 2023, nearly half of Italians declared that they managed to save part of their annual income in 2023. Those figures are somewhat higher than in the previous year. On the other hand, 32 percent of the respondents consumed all of their savings. Additionally, 14 percent of the respondents had to use some of their savings for their consumption in 2020, while six percent of them had to borrow money.
