In 2019, the value of mobile money transactions in Nigeria exceeded five trillion Naira (roughly 13 billion U.S. dollars). Compared to the previous years, the number of operations increased. Mobile money allows you to receive, store, and spend money using a mobile phone. To make a deposit or get cash, mobile money systems use agents, people in key locations throughout the country, including remote rural areas, where to pick up or deposit money. Nigeria had around 15 million mobile money customers in 2019. The number of users of this service has experienced an increase in the last years.
