In the crop year 2019/2020, the agricultural land area under olive production in Tunisia corresponded to nearly 1.9 million hectares. This represented the largest crop area. In the same period, cereal production in the country occupied around 1.2 million hectares.
Olive trees are of primary importance within the Tunisian agricultural sector. In 2020, the total production of olives in the country amounted to two million metric tons. Among cereals, representing another essential agricultural production in the country, the largest area was used for the cultivation of barley and durum wheat in the crop year 2019/2020.
