In comparison, 242 thousand metric tons of dates were produced in 2017. Date production constitutes an essential part of the agricultural outputs of the country. The vast majority of dates are derived from the palm trees located in the oasis of southern Tunisia. In 2019, Tunisia was among the world leading producers of dates.
