According to a survey conducted in 2019, about 14.5 percent of male respondents in Japan aged 70 years and older had lost all their teeth. At the same time, around 34.4 percent of respondents aged 70 years old and above still had 20 or more teeth left, which was less than the share among female respondents of the same age group, which stood at around 37 percent.
