According to a survey conducted in September 2020, 64 percent of Indonesian respondents who had a master or PhD degree believed that people were not following COVID-19 safety measures because there were no sanctions as a consequence of not following it. As of October 13, 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Indonesia amounted to 336,716 and the number had been increasing since Indonesia had its first COVID-19 case in March 2020.
