Top reasons for book reading in Mexico 2024

During a survey conducted among literate adults in urban Mexico in February 2024, around 41 percent of respondents said they read books for entertainment. Some 23 percent cited work or study as a reason, while a similar share of the interviewees stated that they read books to obtain general knowledge. Approximately one out of 10 respondents mentioned religion as their motivation. Literate adults' leading reasons for not reading books in Mexico included lack of time and interest.
