A study from 2020 on consumer perception of brand's reaction to social issues in the United States, found that 82 percent of respondents would forgive a company for at least trying to help by speaking out on social issues, even if the company did not get it right. At the same time, 77 percent of respondents said, that when companies speak out on social issues, it shows that they are aware of what is happening in the world.
