In a survey conducted in June 2020 about COVID-19 countermeasures, 83 percent of respondents stated that transport businesses should disinfect vehicles if they were to visit Japan for tourism. Several other measures in the survey had responses of over 80 percent, indicating that the majority of travelers expected various COVID-19 countermeasures to be taken.

Target respondents were women and men aged 20 to 59, with experience in foreign travel from Asian and European countries, as well as the U.S. and Australia.
This graph shows the percentage of people who responded "I definitely think so" and "I think so" regarding COVID-19 countermeasures they feel should be taken by transportation businesses to give respondents peace of mind about using transportation facilities in Japan if they visit for tourism.
