In July 2021, 61.5 percent of women aged 15 years and over in Australia were in the labor force. Overall, the participation rate of women in the Australian labor force has been gradually increasing over time.

Rates are seasonally adjusted. In April 2020, the Australian Bureau of Statistics advised of a change from the 'concurrent' method of seasonal adjustment estimation to the 'forward factors' method, during the COVID-19 period. The forward factors method ensures that large movements do not disproportionately influence seasonal factors.
