Mexico: share of news consumers subscribed to paid digital news media 2020

According to a survey carried out in 2020, only 8 percent of Mexican respondents who regularly consume news online were subscribed to a paid digital news outlet. The remaining 92 percent used to get their news from free digital sources. Credibility was one of the main reasons to have a subscription to a digital news medio in Mexico, based on a similar survey that year.
