During a 2018/2019 survey, approximately 83.5 percent of the female school population aged eight to 18 in Costa Rica used the internet to access social networks, against slightly over 79 percent for male students within the same age range. Furthermore, in 2020, about 8.5 percent of Costa Rica's Instagram users were aged 13 to 17 years old.
