According to a 2018/2019 study, nearly 96 percent of children and teenage students in urban areas of Costa Rica used the internet to watch videos, shows, and movies, against 84.4 percent of those surveyed in rural areas of the Central American country. By 2024, it is estimated that Costa Rica will have 249 thousand subscribers to the visual media streaming site Netflix.
