Hindi accounted for the highest share of general entertainment category viewership on television across India in 2018. At 43 percent, some of the most popular Hindi shows in the genre included CID, Taarak Mehta Ka Oolltah Chashmah, and Crime Patrol. Tamil ranked second that year.
