Import value of chemicals Japan 2022, by region
In 2022, Asia was the leading chemical supplier to Japan, with the import value of chemicals from that region amounting to over five trillion Japanese yen. Western Europe followed, with an import value of chemicals to Japan of around 4.7 trillion Japanese yen.
In that year, medical products constituted the largest import value of chemicals. Due to the continued demand for medicine from the aging population, the Japanese pharmaceutical market is expected to remain one of the most important destinations for foreign chemical and pharmaceutical companies.
