During a survey fielded in Mexico in 2020, 40 percent of respondents who said they read digital news at least once a week but said it was not "worth paying for" stated they had easy and free access to content they need, thus being the main reason for not having a subscription to a digital news medium; 35 percent of respondents claimed easy access to free content was the main reason to not subscribe to a digital news medium.
