As of 2023, 27 out of 50 top-ranking wineries in China were located in Ningxia province, making it the main quality wine producing region in the country. Another seven leading wineries were based in Shandong and six in Xinjiang.
Breakdown of 50 leading wineries in China as of 2023, by wine producing region
Hurun Research Institute surveyed all wineries in China. Each winery was scored in three dimensions to determine top 50:
1) basic hard power (estate area, registered capital, valid certificates and awards);
2) industry leadership (statistics of registered wine trademarks, valid patents, grape varieties, and product output);
3) public influence (monitoring the websites of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Weibo, WeChat and other public media platforms, the winery’s communication volume, reputation of the manor, national scenic spot level, and number of brand fans were counted).
The results were weighted.
