As of December 15, 2020, the total number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the Netherlands reached over 628 thousand. With 10 percent of cases, the age group 20 to 24 registered the most infections, followed by the 50 to 54 age group. Although fewer positive tests relate to older age groups, most hospital admissions occurred among older people. Furthermore, COVID-19 was especially deadly in older age groups, and notably in people aged 80 to 89 years old.
