Argentina: Spotify usage 2020

During a survey carried out among internet users in Argentina in 2020, around 26 percent of respondents stated using the Spotify free service, whereas 20 percent stated they used Spotify Premium. Spotify had 66 million monthly active users in Latin America in the second quarter of 2020.

Spotify presence worldwide

In 2019, the global music streaming market was estimated at 11.4 billion U.S. dollars. Spotify – by far the largest player on the market – generated a revenue of roughly 7.9 billion U.S. dollars. It has, however, been operating at a loss since its inception in 2008. Europe was the company’s largest market accumulating 35 percent of the total of 124 million monthly active users, followed by North America.

Spotify presence in Latin America

Latin America is Spotify’s third largest market and accounts for 22 percent of its monthly active users. Mid 2020, with the Covid-19 pandemic in full bloom, the service had 65.8 million users in the region, having gained nearly three million between March and June 2020. Spotify was the first choice when it came to music streaming services for Mexican consumers, with a nearly 85 percent market share. Both in Argentina and in Peru it ranked second, behind YouTube.
