A 2018 survey conducted among British retailers revealed that more than half of the respondents provided more information about their products online, e.g. exact measurements, in order to reduce delivery return rates. Second most popular action taken by the retailers was making the returns policy more transparent e.g. making it more prominent on a website. In contrast, introducing a ‘try before you buy’ service that allows customers to only pay for items they decide to keep was the least preferred solution, with less than one fifth of respondents choosing this.
