Number of public routes in major cities in Estonia 2020

As of September 2020, the capital of Estonia, Tallinn had by far the most public transport routes - a total of 285 bus routes and 4 tram lines were available for its locals and visitors. Tartu, also known as an intellectual capital of Estonia for being a home to the nation's oldest and most renowned university, had the second biggest number of bus routes nationwide.
Since January 2013, Tallinn has been fare-free for its residents in terms of public transportation, becoming the first European capital abolishing the public transport fees, with country's governments ambitious plans to make the public transportation free of charge nationwide to combat traffic and air pollution.
