All Canadian retail sectors experienced a surge in e-commerce sales between February and April 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Online sales of furniture and home furnishings stores grew by almost 200 percent, making it the fastest growing online retail sector during that time period. In-store sales declined in all sectors apart from food and beverage, which experienced a sales growth of just over three percent.
