In the fourth quarter of 2020 in Morocco, the number of self-employed people in the rural areas was higher than that of employees, and it represented 53.7 percent of the employed labor force in the rural communities (4.4 million people). Rural employees were 7.4 percentage points less than the rural self-employed. Overall, rural personnel in the country is low compared to urban employment. Furthermore, self-employment in 2020 remained considerably higher in rural communities than urban ones.
