To facilitate distance learning in the Dominican Republic amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the government of the Caribbean country reported to have distributed laptops and notebooks for around 64 thousand Dominican high-schoolers as well as 4.6 thousand teachers between March and June of 2020. The beginning of the academic year 2020/21 was affected by the COVID-19 in many countries. In Mexico, for example, sales of school supplies were expected to fall more than 14 billion Mexican pesos during the back-to-school season of 2020.
