Beauty face mask penetration growth APAC 2017-2019 by country or region

Growing by almost 60 percent in 2019, beauty face mask penetration in the Asia Pacific region experienced the highest growth in China. Contrastingly, beauty face mask penetration in both Indonesia and Malaysia grew by just over eight percent in 2019.

 Leading beauty products 

The Asia Pacific region is the world’s largest cosmetics market, with beauty product sales in the region expecting to have the biggest growth globally. The Asia Pacific region has produced some of the biggest beauty markets, with these markets providing beauty products that appeal on a global scale. Correspondingly, consumers worldwide stated that South Korean beauty products were very popular. Serums proved to also have high popularity within the region with serum penetration growing by more than 20 percent in South Korea, Taiwan, and China.

Alongside having the largest share of the cosmetics market, the Asia Pacific region is renowned for its innovative beauty trends. Such trends stem from the likes of South Korea, which has introduced unique products such as snail facials. The focus on skincare is something that has been echoed in both China and Japan, as often consumers have the goal of wanting to appear youthful and slowing the skin’s aging process. South Korean consumers are known for their meticulous skincare routine, which often involves a multi-step process.
