In the fourth quarter of 2022, the capital adequacy ratio of Chinese commercial banks increased by 0.08 percentage points. The capital adequacy ratio indicates how resilient a bank is towards its risk assets. According to Basel II, the capital adequacy ratio of banks has to exceed eight percent. Basel III dictates a capital adequacy ratio of at least 10.5 percent.
