Some 1.67 billion barrels of crude oil and petroleum products were moved via pipeline, tanker, barge and rail from PADD 3 (Gulf Coast) in the United States in 2021. This was a 3.1 percent increase compared to the previous year. PADD 3 was the most productive of all districts. However, in 2021 it was surpassed by the Midwest, when 1.75 billion barrels of petroleum were moved from PADD 2. Pipelines are the most common mode of transportation for PADD 3.

PADD stands for Petroleum Administration for Defense District. PADD 3 encompasses the Southern states from New Mexico to Alabama.
