PADD 2 crude oil and petroleum pipeline outflow in the U.S. 1985-2021

Crude oil and petroleum movements by pipeline from PADD 2 (Midwest) amounted to 1.33 billion barrels in 2021. This was an increase of 8.4 percent from the previous year. In the period under consideration, crude oil and petroleum movements by pipeline from PADD 2 presented a trend of growth and reached a peak of roughly 1.35 billion barrels in 2019. However, crude oil movements by pipeline from PADD 2 was notably more than the outflow from PADD 1 in the same time period. PADD 2 has the second largest refinery capacity following PADD 3.
