Adventure tourism includes a range of air, water, and land activities such as mountaineering, hiking, scuba diving, and river rafting, among others. As estimated, adventure tourism spending in the United States amounted to approximately 96 billion U.S. dollars in 2019. The U.S. alone accounted for roughly 14 percent of global spending on adventure tourism, which reached an estimated 683 billion U.S. dollars that year.
