Mexico reported its first case of COVID-19 at the end of February 2020. By the end of March, the public health situation had led many Mexicans to resort to alternative purchasing methods that would allow them to make purchases from the safety of their homes, shopping apps being one of these options. Between February 25 and June 22, the highest share (7.91 percent) of non-organic shopping app installations in the North American country took place on the week from May 12 to 18, while organic app installs reached a peak a week later.
