Brazil reported its first case of COVID-19 at the end of February 2020. By mid-March, the public health situation led many Brazilians to restrict their movement and with it the opportunities of going out on a shopping spree. Between February 25 and June 22, the highest share (6.75 percent) of organic shopping app installations in the South American country took place on the week from April 28 to May 4, while non-organic app installs reached a peak two weeks later.

Sample included a total of 6.3 billion organic installs and 3.7 billion non-organic installs. The metric was normalized by dividing the weekly share of installs by the overall number of installs throughout the examined time frame. Therefore the source clarifies that the overall period adds up to 100 percent, with each week representing the share out of the total.
According to the source organic installs are those not attributed to a media source, while non-organic installs (NOI) are attributed to a media source. More information is available here.
