Liquor tax revenue breakdown in Japan FY 2018, by type
In fiscal year 2018, the revenue from national liquor taxes in Japan amounted to around 1.3 trillion Japanese yen, of which beer accounted for over 42 percent. Alcoholic beverages categorized as 'beer' in Japan show a malt content of 50 percent or more. Apart from malt, water, and hops, permitted ingredients include rice, corn, potato, sugar, and starches.
