Leading reasons to throw away food Japan 2023
The majority of consumers in Japan have thrown away food for various reasons as revealed in a survey conducted in September 2023. The leading reason was that the food went bad when they forgot to preserve it, with 28.5 percent of respondents. The expirations of the use-by date followed closely as the second most named reason.
