In 2022, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is the world's largest producer of cobalt, accounted for nearly 59 percent of the global exports of cobalt based on value. That corresponded to an export value of six billion U.S. dollars in 2022, up from 4.59 billion U.S. dollars in 2021. Canada was the world's second-largest cobalt exporting country that year, with a distant 6.22 percent of global exports based on value.
