Challenges regarding support of sexual minorities in Japanese companies 2019

According to a survey conducted in November 2019 about diversity in the workplace, around 51 percent of surveyed companies found it difficult to understand the exact needs and opinions of parties concerned when implementing support initiatives for LGBT individuals. Approximately 41 percent of respondents were not sure what kind of efforts would be helpful.
The acronym LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and has been used since the 1990s. It is an umbrella term for individuals identifying as non-heterosexual or non-cisgender, with the latter meaning that the individual's gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth.
