There are a variety of ways that a traveler can book an overnight stay at a hotel, including via an online travel agency (OTA), brick-and-mortar travel agency, or directly with the hotel itself. According to the source, bookings made directly with the hotel declined from 2013 to 2019 in all European countries shown. Austria was the country with the highest share of direct hotel bookings in 2019, with 61.5 percent of bookings made this way.
