As of the end of September, 2019, over 78 million metric tons of carbon emissions allowances had be traded in the Chinese southern province Guangdong in the over the counter market. Since the market began, around 360 million metric tons of allowances had been traded in the primary and secondary markets in China, amounting to around 7.8 billion yuan.
