In 2019, there were almost 24 million estimated cases of acute respiratory infections in Mexico. This shows a decrease in comparison to 2017, when around 25.83 million new cases were reported in the North American country. Of the 2019 estimated cases, over 4.2 million (or about 18 percent) occurred in adults between the ages of 25 and 44. The age group with the second largest amount of estimated cases of acute respiratory infections consisted of children between one and four years old.
