The food and hospitality industry was hit particularly hard by the coronavirus pandemic as bars and restaurants were forced to shutdown due to health and safety concerns. As a result, customers turned to digital platforms to order food from local restaurants. According to an April 2020 survey, 36 percent of U.S. adults that ordered food online resided in suburban areas. Meanwhile, 21 percent of respondents resided in rural areas.
