From May 30 to June 6, 2020, amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, 64.5 percent of women in Kenya reported an increase in time spent on cleaning and maintaining own dwelling surroundings. Among the male respondents, 45.3 percent declared spending more time with the same task. In general, a higher proportion of women reported being more busy with unpaid work activities compared to men.

Respondents were asked whether there had been any changes in the amount of time they spent on various unpaid domestic and care works within their households as a result of COVID-19.
The respondents were distributed as 51.3 percent female and 48.7 percent male. The majority of respondents (63 percent) were aged between 18 and 39 years, and about 35.5 percent reported having attained at least a secondary level of education.
